About Us

Uncommonly Awesome Learning Lab is a learning center offering project-based learning for neurodivergent students in upper elementary and middle school. We are especially designed for twice exceptional (2e) students (students who are gifted learners who also have a disability). Founded in 2022, we excited to continue creating a nurturing environment for 2e kids in the 2024-25 school year. We believe in accommodations, advocacy, and that everyone learns differently.

Our teaching and learning is …

  • Project based - our students design, create, and present both individual and group projects for portfolios

  • Hybrid - we offer online, in-person, and hybrid options

  • Student led - students set personalized learning goals and are encouraged to explore their own interests

  • Strengths based - class work is personalized to build confidence by allowing students to do what they do best

  • Community driven - students and families collaborate with educators to plan projects, set goals, and create a space for  all learners to thrive

Application Process

The application process starts by contacting our director to set up an initial visit and teacher interview. If that goes well, your child will then have a "shadow day" to try out a school day and see if our environment is a good fit. We also have an application form that we encourage you to complete to tell us a little more about your child.

Tuition

Tuition for our microschool is an annual fee of $25,000 broken into five six-week sessions of $5,000 each. Part-time tuition calculated based on each individual student's part-time schedule, contact us for details at info@uncommonlyawesomelearning.org

We are welcoming of all and will not tolerate discrimination of students, families, or faculty based on race, color, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

We are a small 501(c)(3) nonprofit operating in the San Francisco Bay Area with a new campus opening summer 2023 in Mountain View, CA.
